The good points include:
Gearbox rebuilt with new bearings and seals
Primary rebuilt with new clutch drum, springs and friction plates, new primary chain, new gearbox sprocket, new final drive chain and rear sprocket
New tyres and inner tubes
Forks rebuilt with new stanchions, bushes and seals, new gaiters, and front brake shoes re-lined
New alternator
Seat professionally recovered with new foam fitted to the original base
Carburettors rebuilt with new jets and slides
Engine is oil tight with no rattles, runs well, and has points ignition for a good spark
Original 7″ headlight with ammeter is working
The not so good points include:
Non-original colour scheme
Original chrome to wheel rims is in pretty good condition
No chain guard (not a MOT or legal requirement)
Bars are higher than standard western export bars
Clocks are working but could do with an overhaul to make them accurate again
No idea of the mileage as the bike is 45 years old
Overall, this is a really nice 500 Triumph that rides well, handles nicely, and is reliable. It is a historic vehicle, so there is no need for a MOT and it is free from historic road tax.
