1968 Triumph Bonneville T120 Desert Sled Scrambler 650cc

For sale is a 1968 Triumph Bonneville desert sled that was repatriated from Johnson Motors USA. It underwent a full frame-up build by Dan Haines and is loosely based on a custom TT special. The bike has a 1966 twin carb Bonneville engine in the 1968 chassis, which includes a wider set Tr6c/TT front end with cast one-piece riser clamp, modified to take the earlier narrow SLS front hub and drum. The bike has a 1968 USA spec extra slim TT special tank, with the rear frame section lifted around 2″ for tyre clearance, and a brand new rear Wassell alloy mudguard. The bike has TT special fork covers with new rubber gaiters, TT special style high power ET batteryless ignition with 12 degree advance plate and proper TT kill switch. The alternator produces excellent sparks, and there’s a spare wire under the tank for a brake light if wanted. The bike has an oversized rear trials sprocket, Ace Classics leather Bates replica TT seat, and Webco braced handlebars. It also has amal style alloy levers, custom external oil tank filler neck, original Bonneville Girling shocks, and old patina Tr6 high level pipes with custom slash tips and oversized Wassell rose clamps. The bike has brand new matching twin amal carbs with a modified trident triple air filter and quick release external filter can. It was built to be ridden and has a very nice mix of old and new parts. The bike is registered correctly in the UK as a 1968 Bonneville with V5 in the seller’s name. The bike comes with a TOMCC dating cert detailing both the frame and engine production and export dates. It is tax and MOT exempt and has very cheap classic insurance. The bike is a completed bike ready to go and not just assembled loosely for photos. It runs, rides, and stops as it should and is ready to get dirty. Please message the seller to arrange viewing, etc. Test rides are possible on private land behind a locked gate. Please note that this is a fresh engine build, so it will require some running in.
