1965 Triumph Thunderbird 6T
For sale is a 1965 Triumph Thunderbird 6T on behalf of an old friend who has owned it for more than 30 years. The bike has been well taken care of and has covered less than 1,000 miles in that time.
The motorcycle has recently undergone a full recommissioning, which included a top-end engine overhaul with new pistons/rebore and a new carburettor, as well as new tyres and battery. It starts easily, runs well, and has covered 300 miles since the work was completed. The oils have just been changed, and everything is in good working order.
The motorcycle is completely original, including the rare “half bath tub” side panels, which were only fitted for about two years. This being one of the later bikes, it has the Bonneville-style front mudguard and retains its original headlamp nacelle. The wheel rims are original Dunlop. The bike was registered in Swindon and has its original number plate. It was supplied to a private owner when new and was stored by the previous owner in the mid-seventies. The present owner acquired it in the late 1980s when it was fully restored. The only deviation from standard is the fitment of a chronometric speedo instead of the less reliable magnetic type and a period Stadium handlebar mirror. The bike has a few paint chips and chrome blemishes that it has acquired in storage over the years, but these do not detract from the excellent overall appearance.
The bike comes with its V5 [Historic Vehicle] and a quantity of paperwork, including a genuine workshop and parts manual and a number of spare parts that have been acquired over the years.
This is a great opportunity to acquire a really good, original example of this relatively rare and complete model. If you have any questions or would like to view the motorcycle, please don’t hesitate to call.
