I am selling a 1964 BSA A65L Lightning project with a dustbin fairing. I have too many ongoing projects and won’t be able to work on this one anytime soon, so I have decided to sell it. The bike has been stored in a dry garage for the past 20 years and has had only one owner before me. The paintwork is in poor condition, but according to the V5C, the original colour is black, which is what I was planning to strip it back to. The V5C is in my name. The bike is being sold as a project and is described and shown in the pictures. I will take more pictures if needed.

Last weekend, I removed the fairing, drained the crankcases, and put an old battery on it. Most of the electrics work, and after cleaning up the points, I got an intermittent spark. However, the twin Monoblock carbs need sonic cleaning, so I didn’t attempt to start it. The engine turns over with good compression, and the gears engage properly, so it could be back on the road soon. It rolls well, and the brakes and suspension work, but that’s all I managed to check. The tyres and tubes need replacing, and the chrome on the tank is poor, with rust inside. However, there are no visible holes, but I didn’t test it with fuel inside. I also have the side panels for the bike. The finning on the side of the cylinders acts as a heat sink for when the fairing is fitted.

The starting price for the bike is £2000 with no reserve. Any funds raised above the starting price will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Research charity. Therefore, there is no buy-it-now price. If interested, please bid for it.

The bike can be viewed in Milton Keynes (postcode MK13), and the winning bidder will need to collect it in a van or on a trailer as I cannot deliver. Cash on collection is preferred, but bank transfer is also acceptable. I can work with your courier if needed once the bike is paid for. Thank you for looking.
